Lack of knowledge, behavior, and confidence in one's ability to treat diabetes is a factor that influences patient obedience with diabetes management. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of health education on diabetes mellitus management on knowledge, behavior, and self-efficacy of type 2 DM patients. The study was conducted at Sikumana Health Center, Kupang City. This type of research is quantitative research with pre-post-test without control group design. Independent variable in this research is health education. The dependent variable in this research is knowledge, behavior, and self-efficacy. At the end of the session, a post-test was given to reevaluate the knowledge, behavior, and self-efficacy of patients with diabetes mellitus. Univariate data analysis was carried out descriptively and bivariate data analysis using Paired T-Test. The sample in this study was 39 type 2 DM patients with a majority of female respondents (58.9%) and the majority of respondents were at the age of more than 60 years (76.9%). The sampling technique is purposive sampling. The results of the univariate analysis show that the average value of patient knowledge before being given health education is 37.5 (lack of knowledge) and after health education 77.6 (good knowledge). The average self-care behavior before health education: 4.47 days and after health education: 5.20 days. The average self-efficacy before being given health education: 37.2 (good self-efficacy) and after being given health education: 39.8 (good self-efficacy). Statistical tests using Paired T-Test showed that health education had an effect on increasing knowledge (p-value = 0.001), increasing behavior (p-value = 0,000) and increasing self-efficacy (p-value = 0,000). Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that health workers need to improve health education in type 2 DM patients regarding the management of diabetes mellitus. ER -
