Effect of Tartrate and Citric Acid Concentration on Characteristics and Antioxidant Activities Faloak powder Effervescent
Faloak (Sterculia quadrifida R.Br) is a tropical plant that has many benefits and is used to help cure several diseases including hepatitis, typhus, ulcers and liver disorders. The aim of this study was to determine the composition of the formula of citric acid and tartric acid with the physical properties of effervescent powder that met the requirements and determine the antioxidant activity of efferent faloak powder against DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl). Ethanol extract of Faloak is made in the form of effervescent powder. The research method used was experimental study. Faloak ekstrak effervescent were prepared based on four formula, the ratio of acid citric and acid tartaric as Formula 1 (10:10), formula 2 (30:10), formula 3 (10:30) and formula 4 (30:30). All materials were then dry mixed and screened with 20 mesh size of wire (stainless steel). The powders were analyzed the flow ability, angel of repose, compressibility indeks, moisture content, pH value, disintegration time and antioxidant activity. The result of quality tests showed that effervescent powder had flow rate 1,45-1,93 g/s; rest angel 32,06-32,910; moisture content 8,76 – 10,15%, compressibility index 14,91-18,21%, pH value 5,3 – 6,2 , dissolution rate 5-10 minute; formula A, B, C has a strong anti-oxidant activity with IC50 values 28.92 - 99.36 and formula D has a weak antioxidant activity with IC 50 values of 172.78.
