The Microorganisms Content In Body Of Flies Has The Potential To Spread Intestinal Diseases In Kupang City
Background: The 2014 Indonesian health profile explained that Diarrhea Outbreaks occurred in 5 provinces and 6 districts / cities including North Sumatra, South Tapanuli District, South Sulawesi in Enrekang District, Lampung in Pesawran District, East Nusa Tenggara in TTS and East Java Districts in Pasuruan Regency, with the number of sufferers 2,549 people with the death of 29 people (CFR 1.14%) nationally the mortality rate (CFR) in outbreaks of diarrhea in 2014 amounted to 1.14% exceeding the target of the CFR on expected outbreaks of diarrhea <1%. Purpose: This study aims to determine the microorganisms in the body of flies that have the potential to spread intestinal diseases in Kupang city. Methods: The research method used is quantitative research that is to examine a population or a particular sample, data collection uses research instruments that we then analyze with statistics to test the hypothesis set. The design used was observational and examination of microorganisms in the laboratory. The variables in this study are sanitation, type/species of flies, Species of microorganisms such as E. coli, Salmonella and worm eggs found in the body of the fly. Results: The sample in this study was 96 fish catches. The results of the study show that the conditions of sanitation of restaurants, houses, and places of food sales are quite adequate. Species of flies caught 100% Musca domestica (house flies). The Study Microorganisms found 48.96% of samples positive E. coli, 100% samples negative salmonella and 47.92% sample positive worm eggs. Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, it is recommended that the community pay attention to personal hygiene, defecate in latrines that meet the requirements, pay attention to the sanitation of homes and places of food sales and to the health office to carry out counseling about the role of flies in the spread of diseases from flies to humans through controlling flies and improving sanitation to fulfill the requirements around homes, restaurants and food outlets.
